Garbage. Stopped working after only a month or so. Tried charging but it's just dead. Avoid.

This is compact, sturdy and LOUD. It has a torch function, which is handy to have, and which also flashes when the alarm is activated. Activation is by pulling out the ‘pin’ on the end of the cord.It is as piercing as it is loud and I was pleased with it from this perspective.Charging is via a USB C cable (supplied) and it can go a year between charges depending on torch usage.Good value.

What I will say from the out-set, is that you need-to remember to 'fully push-in the switch' after using or testing this personal alarm.Because, as I ventured-out in the evening after first testing this device, I suddenly heard a multi-volume siren; that I could obviously hear, but I couldn’t see exactly where it was coming from as I’m partially-blind.Plus, to complicate matters, the 130-decibel siren seems-to sound in waves, and I obviously couldn't see the flashing light; but then this was because it was actually inside one of my internal pockets. This alarm went-off ‘accidentally’ because I had tested it earlier that day, and I hadn't quite pushed the alarm switch (or button) 'all' the way back in after prior testing. So, after fully-charging the device prior-to first using-it, (using the included USB cable) you assume that this will last a long-time; and the only indication that the battery will be low, is if you turn-on the torch (using the button on the side of the device) and you hear 5 short beeps. If this happens, then you need-to recharge it as soon as possible.Or, you can just recharge it every 6-months, because the standby time is anywhere up to a year, depending upon how much you've used the torch etc. Because you can just use that function by pressing the side button once, but it’s not really that bright when the siren isn’t sounding. Press it again, and you'll get the strobe-light. One further press of this side button switches the torch off completely. And that’s it. It’s all very simple to use; but it is very effective in what it does. For such a small device, it couldn’t really do much more to attract the attention of others at the moment of your ‘potentially’ desperate need for help.I used it twice in the first day it arrived; and whilst I’ll hopefully never need-it for real, I think it would be wise to always have a device like this by my side.
