Only stabbed myself 11 times but I can now create lovely little needle felted critters that aren't covered in blood.

I really like this set. I'm completely new to felting but was interested in trying something creative that I could do in the evenings to shut off my brain before sleep. To that end, this set is a success!First, to get this out of the way: the needles/stickers are barbed and sharp. I thought I was too good for the finger protectors until I pierced my finger. Now I think the same thing but I'm more careful! So I would say this is something for older kids.Second, if you're new to this, watch a Youtube video for felting beginners. I checked out a couple of short videos and they really helped me understand why I wasn't getting any results. The review:The tools are individially good. I don't know how they compare to professional pieces but for beginngers they are certainly functional. There are three sizes of needles and a cleverly designed wooden handle to hold them for better grip. The wool is perfectly fine. After figuring out what to do and how to do it, it was easy to start making a freeform head. I still don't know what it's going to turn into, but within about 30 minutes I had made something with a nose, lips, eyes, ears and hair. The wool is versatile - I made the hair whispy, for example, but still secure. I like that there's a wide selection of colors to choose from.Overall, I would recommend this set. I had a happy first hour with it and look forward to finishing my first project (and more).

Needle felting is such an addictive and therapeutic craft for anyone to enjoy. My husband and I tried a 1 day taster course earlier in the year. As much as be moaned about not being sure he wanted to do it before we went, he ended up loving it just as much as me, and was really glad that he’d done it.Since then, I have often thought about getting a kit and doing more of it, so I was absolutely thrilled to get the opportunity to test this one. I would say this particular kit offers really good value for money, and is a great starting point to get all of the tools you will need to continue the craft. You might find that there are certain components included that you may not want to use. Personally, I prefer to add felted eyes and noses, rather than the plastic ones included in this kit. I always worry that the plastic ones could cause choking if your item is picked up by a baby, small child, or animal. As you progress, you might also find you want to upgrade some of the items for better ones. I’m already looking at a better pad to work on than the one included in the kit. What I did find a little strange is that there were no instructions whatsoever either inside, or on the outside of the box.. It I hadn’t tried needle felting before, I would have been a little unsure of how to use the different tools, although these days you can watch some really good videos online. This kit also offers a great opportunity to try 50 different small bags of wool colours, to enable you to realise which ones you’re likely to need to purchase larger bags of in the future. All the colours can be blended by tearing off a little piece of the colours you want to blend, and then put them together, and keep pulling at the fibres until they mat together. There is one item, which in my opinion is an essential item, that this kit is missing though. There is no core wool included in the kit. You need this to form the centre core structure, or main body, of the items you want to make. You roll the core wool into your chosen shape, and keep stabbing it with the needle tool until you’re happy with it. At this point you can add extra pieces of core wool to form the shape you require, and stab them into place. The more often you stab a piece, the firmer it becomes. Once you are happy with the final shape of the core structure, you then apply your chosen colours over the top of the core, stabbing them into place with the needle tool, which mats the fibres together and holds them in place. I’ve ordered some carded Corriedale core wool on Amazon, but any core wool would be suitable. You could use the wool from one of your colour bags, but it seems a waste of the more expensive dyed wool, as the core will not be visible in your finished project.Overall, this is a great starting place, but if buying, I would also recommend ordering some core wool at the same time, so that you don’t have to wait to get started.

I love needle felting it's a great hobby. You can be creative and it's actually a relaxing thing to do, plus it's rewarding to see your finished creations. This set includes everything a beginner needs and more to get them started in their new hobby, this would also be great for existing felters too. I won't run through all the tools and accessories you receive, the seller has covered them fully already.Fifty colours of wool in this set, fifty, that's a lot of colours. The wool is compressed within the small bags, there's more in the bags than there looks to be.One thing I noted, there's no instructions, however you can easily find books, free videos and tutorials on the internet. Needle felting isn't a difficult hobby at all, you are using sharp needles and it does involve being careful, but once you master that you're only limited by your own imagination. This is good value complete set, to buy these things individually would be really expensive. When I first started felting I would have loved to receive a gift like this, even now, I'd still love to receive this as a gift. The box the kit arrives in is plain, so you could easily wrap this up as a gift. There's nothing that I don't like about this set, you even get different sized eyes for your mini creations. Five out of five stars from me.
