These fly boxes are just fine for many uses with smaller flies and low profile flies due to how thin the boxes are. Of course, this profile has its pros and cons. You can put a ton of flies in here because of the footprint. I could see using this as a storage box at home or as something you take on a trip, but not to the stream. For that, I want something smaller and more versatile. I do also have questions about the long term durability of the product due to the plastic type and the simply "locking" mechanism which is just a small bump of plastic that locks in place with a creased piece of plastic as a hinge. I wouldn't want to constantly open and shut these boxes whenever I can a fly.

These boxes are pretty thin plastic so I won't be using them on the river. However they are great for storing flies and you can readily see what flies are in the boxes. I use these for bulk storage, and I refill my fly boxes that I use in the field with these boxes. For that purpose they work great. There was a craze a few years back about silicone fly boxes being the new best things. After trying a few silicone boxes, I went back to foam boxes. Much easier to use. These boxes use the foam which I much prefer.

These are very large and will hold alot of lies or Crappie Jigs. The foam looks nice. The plastic construction of the box is just ok as it is reallt thin and have just so-so latches and hinges.

With a large size and a nice triangle foam inserts evenly spaced, these fly boxes are a great companion for the fly tying bench and should also be great for fishing from my kayak. I tie a lot of flies and over time you tend to fill up the smaller boxes, so much so that you end up with multiple boxes that you have to sort through in your fishing vest when you on the water. With a single large box like this, that you could also potentially attach to a flat surface in your kayak or drift boat, you have all of the flies you need in one place. The foam is high quality foam with small triangle cut outs to neatly organize your flies. They have a cut out to slide the hook into, so adding and removing flies is pretty easy. The plastic boxes themselves are not super thick, and they have a simple click closure. So if you are looking for something that is ultra durable, this might not be it. But for high capacity and using on a water craft, they're pretty good!
