I have only about 1500 miles on my mountain bike. I've had it for nearly 3 years though. I left it parked in my garage for three months which is unusual for me because I do enjoy riding the bike. I wanted to use the bike and I couldn't turn the controller on because this switch had died. I used compressed air and a dielectric cleaner to attempt repair after having it tested at the bike shop on the computer. After cleaning I had to test it again and it still would not fully communicate with the computer. He performed the electronic handshake that let the computer know it was attached but functionality was gone . It was never abused, as rough as we are on our bikes. Other reviewers said that their's had become non-functional too for reasons unknown. They claim the previous model which had buttons rather than levers is more durable. I have not tried to previous model and I have just replaced it with the stock lever and we will see how it goes from here.

This is a spare for my e 8000 rig because if u flip the bike upside down u will break it. So I now keep a spare.
