I ordered this for my daughter, who has been taking figure skating lessons for nearly a year. She was thrilled to receive it, and her excitement couldn’t wait—after leaving her skating class and arriving home late, she immediately wanted to set it up and try it out. This means her first experience was a direct transition from real ice to this synthetic version.I purchased two packages to link together, giving her more space to practice fundamentals. The panels are slightly heavier than expected—not a complaint, just an observation. Assembly was straightforward, with the interlocking panels fitting together easily. It took about 10 minutes to set up. However, I’m still determining the best surface for stability. I initially placed it on our living room’s laminate flooring, but it slid around. A low-pile carpet or a non-slip pad underneath might provide better traction.Following the instructions, we sprayed the surface with water before she started skating. Her initial reaction? “It’s kind of like ice, but different.” As the pack-sheet suggested, she became more comfortable after about 10 minutes and started having fun. Her skates were recently sharpened (about four hours of ice time on them), which might have affected the feel, as the instructions mention that slightly duller blades could provide a better experience. She absolutely loved it, though, and is thankful for it. In her words "I'll do this every day!" The ice is 30 minutes and $25 an hour away. This could easily pay for itself in less than a year.Just like real ice, there was some pitting and a small amount of plastic shavings after about 30 minutes of use. It wasn’t excessive, but since there’s no Zamboni, I followed the instructions and wiped/vacuumed it up. This raises some questions about long-term durability, but it’s too early to judge.Overall, we’re happy with it for what it is—a convenient way to practice at home. The biggest challenge as a parent will be setup and teardown, as we don’t have a dedicated space for it (the back porch will likely be its home come spring/summer). Another consideration is safety. My daughter didn’t fall this time, but I know it’s inevitable, and our living room has plenty of sharp corners—tables, the bar, the mantle, etc. To use this safely, you’ll likely need to rearrange your space and pad any potential hazards.Despite these minor concerns, this product offers a fun and useful way to extend practice time beyond the rink. Looking forward to seeing how well it holds up with regular use!

Realize that if you buy the eight panel starter kit, it’s 5’ x 5’. The pictures are misleading! There is no possible way you can skate on this. Buyer beware - Amazon should review. I have never been ripped off like this before.

Likes:- Thick, durable, but still flexible, unlike Potent which felt flimsy.- Rounded interlocking edges held together well, are durable, look nice, and don't snag on things.- The color was more white than Potent.- Large rectangular pieces compared to Potent squares.Dislikes:- Not the best for skating on, much better for stick handling practice.- Did not come with borders to prevent puck from sliding off.- The whole thing would slide around on the ground since nothing is holding it down.

J’avais un doute avec la description versus le nombre de tuiles. Ça indiquait 25m2 mais c’est à peine 2m x 2m. Cela rend le produit moins attrayant vu la taille. La qualité a l’air très bonne!

Purchased 6 starter kits and put together a 10 x 15 ft shooting pad in my basement for my son. He is a goalie and uses it to train on. It is tough to get used to at first but after a week or so he has gotten the hang of it and can perform many of the drills he can do on the pad with his goalie coaches. Some tips. 1 - make sure you sharpen your skates to 5/8. My son had a 1/2 goalie cut the first time he tried it. Found it difficult to skate on. With a 5/8 cut he found it much easier and by the second or third time he was getting the hand of it. Also for a goalie it helps if you use a little glide polish to make sliding easier. We tried a pair of pad sleeves that did not work well for sliding. He is able to slide ok in just his pads now but we will try a pair of slide plates to practice his lateral movement. All in all I am happy with my purchase.
