Der McDonnell Douglas KC-10 Extender ist ein Tankerflugzeug aus der Luft – die militärische Version des dreimotorigen DC-10-Flugzeugs, das von der United States Air Force (USAF) betrieben wird. Die KC-10 wurde aus dem fortschrittlichen Tanker Cargo Aircraft Programm entwickelt. Es enthält militärspezifische Ausrüstung für seine Hauptaufgaben des Transports und der Luftbetankung. Es wurde entwickelt, um den KC-135 Stratotanker nach Erfahrungen in Südostasien und im Nahen Osten zu ergänzen. Die KC-10 war das zweite McDonnell Douglas-Transportflugzeug, das von der Luftwaffe nach der C-9 ausgewählt wurde. Insgesamt wurden 60 kc-10 für die USAF produziert. Die Royal Netherlands Air Force betreibt zwei ähnliche Tanker, die als kdc-10 bezeichnet werden und von DC-10 umgebaut wurden.

I spent 25 years flying the KC-10 from McGuire and this model was true to life from the tail flashing to a true tail number. Construction is good and easy to assemble. My daughter is having her second children, a boy and she doing an airplane themed nursery, so this will be part of his room, something that his granfather (me) actually flew.

I LOVE these replicas! This material (plastic?) is perfect for aircraft models, and this KC-10 has been beautifully rendered. It required a little sanding on the parts and tabs to make the fit just right, but it was worth it. Would love to see Daron do several B-52 models in this material. This KC-10 model is well worth the price.

This is a good model. There are a few things that could make this a great model. First, there are gaps between the wings and fuselage. It's a snap-fit model, so that is excusable. For me, I had a hard time getting the engines on. I don't know if that was a problem with the model or me. The instructions were just a picture, which were no help at all. To be honest, you really don't need instructions to put it together, though. The one thing I would like them to change is to paint the stand a matching gray. In fact, I am probably going to do it myself one of these days. Fix the gaps between the wings and fuselage, and paint the stand a matching gray, and this would be perfect. Even with my minor criticisms, I still think this is a 5 star model.
