Great bit of hardware for the price, the software(firmware) on the other hand not so great. Luckily the sv08 been out for a while now and the community has created work arounds and fixes for most issues. Print quailty and speed is better than my K1 max, which is impressive for the sv08's price range. Maybe not the best printer for beginers due to the firmware issues that sovol doesn' seem to interested in sorting. Has quickly become my main printer and look forword to modding the heck out of it.

The Sv08 took about 1 hour to setup, ready for printing. Easy to assemble with a little care and attention. It print really well out of the box using Orca slicer but you will need to adjust settings for your filament. Prints PETG really well. The magnetic build plate is excellent with good adhesion and easy removal. Great value for money printer that prints fast and is fairly easy to use. Ideal for the hobbyist who wants a good solid printer than can be updated with open source firmware and hardware.

This is my fourth 3d printer (an original SV01 was my first in October 2019 and I should have probably stuck with Sovol) and by far and away the best. The following is based on 110 hrs of printing with a longest print of 10hrs.I've have had one failed print and that was my fault (poor slicing choices)I've been printing with PLA, PLA+ and a little bit of TPUPositives;Build quality and easy of assemblyPrint quality (and bed adhesion - probably the single biggest issue I've had with all my other printers)Build volumeSpeedKlipper (if you've not used the Klipper Mainsail web interface you're missing out)The tolerances for print in place prints are spot on.Not so positives (I'm not calling them negatives as when compared to previous printer experiences they're relative minor)Moving from Cura to Orca Slicer and Klipper is a bit of a learning curve (but well worth it)Occasional printer hangs (fan error reported) during probing before printing has started (and a power cycle seems to clear them better than a firmware soft reset)Need to make some simple printer.cfg changes to sort a very annoying motherboard fan noise (constantly running at 100%)I do quite a lot of multicolour prints which require filament swaps and I've got to say the most problematic issue with the printer is filament swaps. Sometimes they load perfectly and sometimes I need three of four attempts to get the filament to load correctly). This isn't really a problem for single colour prints, but when it's part way through a print it's a concern trying not to disturb the toolhead position. Some people have added a little bit of PTFE tubing between the extruder and the top of the hotend but I've not tried this yet.As with all 3d printers getting it perfectly dialled in is a bit iterative, but the Z-offset and Gantry Levelling menu options help massively. My bed mesh has a range of 0.647 and is higher in the corners, so the first layer in the corners of large prints isn't perfect (it drags a tiny bit)

I loved this printer so much that I bought a second one. Not a good first printer, but for the experienced user it is fast and reliable.Update, today it refused to turn on? Lucky for me that I had 2. Dad thing is that the price has jumped $30.I still think they’re a great printer, I just won’t spend the extra $ plus tax to get another one.

12 month update ===Still 1 star. The latest Firmware, that adds POWER LOSS RESUME, now crashes all the time... I couldn't get two long duration prints without something throwing a Klipper Exception and crashing the printer while mid-print... of course, you'd think with POWER LOSS RESUME it would be okay... it was unable to resume... so WHY THE FOXTROT would anyone add a PLR feature if it doesn't work, and not only that, it now crashes ALL the FRIGGING time!!!I had to replace the toolhead after it dug another hole into the PEI plate, this time ripping the head.Amazingly, with this new toolhead the printer seems to work much better... except when KLIPPER crashes due to the PLR useless feature they've half-a&&ed in there... what a joke10 month update ===Still 1 star. I am on the 2nd build plate (2nd destroyed by the printer deciding to dig into it due to heat drift? ) The PEI build plates wear out super quick, and stuff usually doesn't stick very well. Polymaker ASA has trouble sticking to it unless you use some glue on the build plate.Zoffset calculation is hopeless, doesn't work. The sensor has about 0.65mm drift between hot/cold states. And about a ~0.1 mm accuracy error between prints with same identical temperature. I tried a klicky proble, but that wasn't much better. It is just a bad printer. Cheap. The hardened nozzles are not very good at all. They seem to suck compared to the original chrome plated copper ones.In the end, if you want to actually build things, then get something else... or if you like to just tinker, then sure, get this.Oh, while not related to the printer directly, the Orcaslicer software that is "needed" to print crashes all the time too. In contrast, BambuStudio (based on the same slicer) does not: Its just bad software. And it won't slice certain models correctly either, like the good old Cura did.At this point I am ditching the printer in favor of something else that doesn't require me sitting next to the printer like the POS Ender 3 did. Or, This is the Ender 3 of the CoreXY printers.
