Das Predator-Sortiment
Unser Sortiment an gehärteten Predator-Sägen wurde speziell entwickelt, um die Bedürfnisse selbst der anspruchsvollsten Profis zu erfüllen. Spear & Jackson begann vor weit über 200 Jahren mit der Herstellung von Sägen. Das Sortiment umfasst Sägen für vier spezielle Anwendungsbereiche – Holzarbeiten beim Rohbau, Holzarbeiten beim Innenausbau, Laminat und PVC-U-Schnitt.

Die Auswahl ist schon sehr ordentlich - leider aber auch schlecht beschrieben. Und so war ich doch mit der Auswahl etwas überfordert. Die Herstellerseite (englisch) gibt einem da aber etwas mehr Hilfe:- First Fix - grobe Säge gegen die Maserung- Second Fix - feine Säge gegen und entlang der Maserung- Universal - Universal-Säge gegen und entlang der Maserung - allerdings etwas grober als die Second Fix- UPVC - für harten Plastik- Laminat - sehr feine Säge für extrem gerade Kanten bei Laminat- Triplefast - feine Säge für gerade Kanten bei weichem HolzFür mich fiel die Wahl also auf die Triplefast. Mit 10 ppi hat sie 9 "Zähne" pro Inch, welche bei der Triplefast jedoch auf beiden Seiten geschärft sind. So hat man sowohl bei Zug und Schub (also beide Richtungen der Bewegung) eine Säge-Wirkung. Der Magnolien-Baum durfte zuerst für den Test herhalten - da geht die Säge durch, wie durch Butter. In wenigen Sekunden und mit wenig Aufwand hat man auch stärkere Äste schnell durch. Auch sonstiges Holz in meiner Werkstatt war damit sehr schnell und ohne großem Aufwand durchtrennt.Ich bin wirklich sehr erstaunt, was doch eine gute Säge so ausmacht und das es auch ohne großen Aufwand oder einem hohen Preis geht.Spear&Jackson ist in Deutschland noch wenig bekannt. Haben international jedoch einen sehr guten Ruf - und mit der Säge haben sie es für mich wieder einmal bewiesen, dass sie es können. Absolute Kaufempfehlung!

Really good saw, easy to use, cuts through wood like butter..... easy to lose track of the straight line if you lose your concentration slightly

Great saw - Honestly, it cuts much more quickly than i'd expected. great quality for the money.Cuts quickly and very cleanly. Wish I had bought one before. Flexibility in blade might be an issue if not careful with saw. And one thing more it's a bitl long.

My first wood saw since school and I found the right tool for the job. I needed a woodsaw to help with a small ikea hacking project and the Predator Tripplefast cut through 45mm plane squared timber with ease and in seconds. One draw back to get a notch and after than it the link in and it went through the wood in seconds.Its not the cheapest saw but it feel's built to last and out of the sleeve its a delight to use. 5*s

I have tried a number of low cost saws and the truth is it's worth spending the extra on a good one like this. Just knowing that the 45 and 90 degree angled handle will be true is worth the extra money. I often use this rather than getting the power tools out as it does the job in no time.

Honestly, it cuts much more quickly than i'd expected. great quality for the money.after i took it out of the box i introduced it straight to a nasty strip of mdf. it gave an extremely fine, splinter-free cut. and of course, it performed even better crosscutting a piece of pinewood (havent tried it on hardwood though, but i presume it'd cut hardwood like butter too).the saw is light but still has enough weight to help you keep the cut perpendicular to the piece (or more precisely, to the ground).it not that easy to start the cut with this saw. when i pulled it to score a line on the workpiece, the triple-ground teeth unsettled the saw quite a bit. so be sure to mark and score your cut with a knife, not with just a pencil.this is a problem with most other modern factory-made triple-ground-toothed handsaws too, so no matter what you buy you're not gonna get away with it.The only letdown is the logo being "printed" onto the saw, not etched into it, so the logo sits a little proud of the surface of the side of the saw. Clearly,this causes some extra friction and unsettles the saw a little bit (but really, by just a hair) when the logo goes past the surface of the cut.finally, keep in mind that this saw isnt suited for rip cutting. i tried it, and it did cut, but not nearly as quickly as any dovetail saw or ripsaw.in conclusion, you cant really go wrong with this saw (or any other saws from the same manufacturer). it's exactly what a beginning woodworker or diyer needs. I would have given it a 5 if it wasnt for the "printed" logo.
