Clean/wash ALL remnant aluminum debris from the tube. Add a light coat of non-petroleum base lubricant (vacuum or silicone grease) to the inside and outside of the post that is inserted into the base. Clean and remove any debris from base. Remove posts from base when storing.If you don't file the sharp edges off of the inside and outside of the tube, what will happen over time is that the sharp edges cut and scrape plastic from the base insert, and over time those plastic cuts and shavings that have not been fully been cut from the post continue to add up, and over time it reduces the width of the round slot opening. And eventually it gets tighter and tighter. And every time you remove the post, you rock it back and forth while pulling up, those sharp edges of the aluminum tube keep cutting and scraping the plastic insert. Rounding off the sharp edges of the inside and outside of the post allows you to rock it back and forth a little easier while NOT cutting and scaping the plastic as you lift. And being that the edge is rounded off it does not cut and hold onto the plastic insert as you lift it out. And that plastic insert doesn't get shredded on the inside, over time.At storage, remove and inspect your posts for knicks and sharp edges at the base end and regrease as necessary.Note: old base plate plastic insert may already be shredded/damaged from previous use of sharp-edged posts and may need to be replaced in order for this procedure to succeed.

I fell against my boat table and knocked it loose by pulling/stripping the screws from the deck. This flange was a drop in and had a larger screw pattern - so all I had to do to make the repair was shoot the OEM screws into this new flange and assemble the table post and top - :-)
