You can clearly see the separation line in the middle of the staff. The metal shaft is scuffed...white paint really shows. The butt is bare metal. Overall disappointed in the quality of this particular replica. I buy one or two of these every year for a Christmas present for my husband. Others have been pretty good. Gandalf's staff from the Hobbit was awesome. High quality resin and a nice rubber butt for walking around for cosplay or something. This is aluminum, so it is light, but that's the only nice thing about it. It looks good on the wall about 5 feet away. Oh, well...need it for the collection. The swords from United Cutlery are pretty good, there are only a few we don't have.

After reading so many reviews, I was afraid about what I would find, but as it turns out, United Cutlery made some vast improvements. The staff seems to be made of excellent quality wood, and nothing suggests that any piece of it is made of plastic. It came with both pieces perfectly intact, and in Styrofoam that was so well molded that breakage was near impossible, even with my post office. It looks great on my wall next to my door with my UC Gandalf the Grey staff mounted on the other side.

Ich habe auch den Stab von Gandalf aus dem Hobbit und man kann die beiden Stäbe eigentlich nicht vergleichen.Als dieser Stab ankam war ich schon erst enttäuscht da er viel kleiner,schmaler und leichter wie der andere ist.Aber er ist einfach schön.und natürlich ist er nur was für die vitrine!!!!ich habe auch Schwerter und Äxte von HdR und vom Hobbit und alles hängt an der Wand und es wird nicht damit gekämpft oder sowas!Dafür sind die Sachen nicht gemacht!!!Bin mit dem Stab gegen ein Regal gestoßen und es ist nichts passiert.

First staff broke in shipping. Was replaced without question. Replacement lasted on the wall for about 3 months before the staff head broke off. Is fixable, but the way this item is built seems flawed.

Der Stab ist wunderschön und echt toll gearbeitet.Muß aber auch deutlich sagen,er ist nur was für eine Vitrine.Bin mit der Spitze leicht gegen den Türrahmne gestoßen und sie ist sofort in viele Teile zerbrochen.Also Leute angucken ja,aber bitte nicht anfassen.Eine riesen Entäuschung!!!!!

I have a funny story to recount about these staffs. I needed 3 for a theatrical production. I ordered 2 from United Cutlery and 1 used one from e-bay to save a little money. United Cutlery's description says the staff shaft is made from wood and the head is made of metal. However, the heads of the 2 I ordered are made from some kind of resin, not metal. This was actually better for me because it makes the entire staff much lighter and more evenly balanced, so I have no complaints. The wood shaft screws together like a pool cue. It's not a hard wood, but it is not a composite.I can only assume the manufacturer used to make these out of metal and then switched to resin because other reviewers mention the metal heads being a little top heavy. This is where it gets funny. The description of the same staff I bought on e-bay claimed the staff was made of resin and wood, but when it arrived it was metal and wood! It weighed about 9 lbs and was so top heavy that it was difficult to use and eventually fell over backstage one day and broke into 3 pieces. The metal head is made in 3 pieces and is glued onto the shaft, so it broke along all the glue lines. Actually, just bumping it made the glue chip so you could always see gaps/lines between the 3 pieces. This is not the case with the resin heads. In my opinion (and experience), the resin heads are much nicer looking, more user friendly and more durable than the metal heads.As the metal one broke, I am now ordering a replacement from United Cutlery. This is when I noticed their description says the head is metal. I hope not! I hope it's resin like the previous ones.So my only complaint/request is, sellers please update your product descriptions and make sure they are accurate so us buyers know exactly what we are getting!!!
