I connected the hard drive dock to a USB 3 port on my PC, plugged it in,inserted a old hard drive then turned it on and it worked perfectly. My only complaint is that the power adapter cord was a bit too short, necessitating the need for an extension cord to reach a power outlet. It also would have been nice to have had a USB cable that was a bit longer. Other than that minor complaint I highly recommend this unit.

I tried an inexpensive Sabrent 4-unit external drive bay, but began having drive access errors and USB disconnections, while fully-loaded with HDDs that were >75% filled. The drives were pulling more power than the little unit (and it's power supply) could handle.But this StarTech unit is almost perfect. A little big, but has a large capacity power supply, and a very sturdy drive bay assembly. And two analog-control (dials) fans to keep it cool, even though the unit seems to power down the drives, as well.I have not encountered any issues with drive access, and the USB connection is stable. The independent on/off button for each drive is very useful, especially to power down an HDD drive before removal (hot-swapping an HDD when the drive is spinning should be avoided).

I use the dock with iMac 2017 (latest macOS). When using the USB-C connection, file copying stops after few minutes with error 36. It works okay with USB-A cable, but the speed is not too great.

Instant installation on eSATA, well made and pleasant design. Works as described. Since I have only had the unit for about 6 weeks I cannot say anything about durability, but otherwise I am fully satisfied with this purchase.

Preso questo Startech.com al posto di altri dock meno costosi e apparentemente più ricchi di feature perché quelle feature erano incomplete, es. la copia/clone di dischi che funziona solo su partizioni Windows mentre io uso Mac OS.Ho dunque preferito puntare alla qualità e alle performance, tanto con Mac OS il sistema mi da già le funzioni di clone praticamente in un click.Conoscevo già Startech.com per altri prodotti e non sono mai stato deluso. Anche stavolta sono molto soddisfatto dell'acquisto.Motivi:1) La qualità costruttiva è ottima.2) Tasti power specifici per ciascun disco: ciò permette di inserire un disco nello slot senza che questo venga alimentato mentre fa contatto, o peggio gli venga staccata l'alimentazione mentre si sgancia dallo slot. Inoltre quando "espello" un disco posso spegnerlo lasciandolo nello slot invece che toglierlo ogni volta, risparmiando cicli di utilizzo dei connettori. I tasti power sono contornati da un anello che segnala in blu l'accensione e in rosso lampeggiante l'attività.3) Performance: UASP (acronimo di USB Attached SCSI Peripheral) funziona e si vede. I trasferimenti sono veramente fulminei (ovviamente dipende dali tipo di disco che si usa!). Ho anche un'enclosure Thunderbolt2 e posso dire che le performance di questo UASP sono eccellenti. Manca il TRIM, e per averlo nativo bisogna passare a Thunderbolt che è radicalmente diverso e gli enclosure sono (e vengono visti dal sistema come) dei controller AHCI nativi, ma ha anche altri prezzi.

The product works really well and is useful if you need to read a hard drive quickly without putting it into a system, however it is quite expensive for what it does.

I tried to get this RS232 to TTL convertor to work for many hours and even days. Then I asked my neighbour who is an even better expert than me with computers. We agreed that it did not have 'handshaking' and therefore it was useless for my application. Startech confirmed the absence of 'handshaking' but as it had taken me a long time to get to this point, I could not return it. I put it in the household waste.

Nachdem ich einige "Billig-Produkte" ausprobiert habe, dachte ich eine teurere Docking-Station wird wohl besser funktionieren. Die erste Zeit klappte das auch wirklich gut mit der SDOCK2U33EB über eSATA und auch USB 3.0, doch zunehmend fiel auf, daß die Festplatten entweder nicht erkannt wurden oder während des Betriebes oft Schreib-/Lesefehler im Ereignisprotokoll zu sehen waren, während die Platte laut Ressourcenmonitor zu 100% im Zugriff war, jedoch keine Daten transportierte. Die Platte (normale HD, keine SSD) habe ich dann zum Test in ein eSATA 5-Bay RAID-Gehäuse gesteckt und siehe da ... läuft ohne Probleme mit bis zu 120 MByte/s.Es scheint, als wäre die Docking-Station doch von minderer Qualität, denn nach längerem Betrieb ist diese de Facto nicht mehr brauchbar.

Getestet mit 8TB Festplatten: Stabile und schnelle Funktion.Bequemes an/abschalten beider Platten unabhängig voneinander / Kopieren zwischen ihnen ohne Geschwindigkeitseinbußen möglich.

und dies im laufenden Betrieb mit USB 3.0. und unter Windows 10Seagate Archive HDD 8 TB schafft in dem Dock, bei großen Dateien, kontinuierlich eine Transferrate von 160 MB/s bis zu 180 MB/s. Auch bei großen Datenmengen, wie z.B das erste Backup mit rund 6TB, gab es keine Verbindungsabbrüche.Das Dock läuft bei mir seit Mai 2016, also ungefähr seit 2Monaten

Deze SDOCK4U33 is geweldig.Al mijn SATA schijven incl. SSD functioneren perfect alsof zij in mijn computer zitten.Onmisbaar, betaalbaar en erg handig.KlasseDiese SDOCK4U33 ist groß.Alle meine SATA-Laufwerke inkl. SSD funktionieren perfekt, als ob in meinem Computer.Unverzichtbar, kostengünstige und sehr bequem.

schnelle lieferung sehr zufrieden hätte sogar ein 6er dock brauchen können ein leises brummen beim pc start obwohl die platten ausgeschaltet sind als ob strom verbraucht würde hoff ich merks den zusatzverbrauh nicht auf der rechnung
