What a way to start a series. This was an excellent story that moved at a fast pace and kept me gripped from start to finish. Great characters and an exciting ending.Looking forward to reading more.

What a good adventure story. Horowitz thought the Bond characters were too old, so he wrote a book about a young boy who is a modern day 007.

The book “Stormbreaker” by Anthony Hororwitz is about a boy called Alex Rider who gets recruited by the MI6 to investigate the mysterious case of the “Stormbreaker-Computers” by a man called Mr. Sayle. The book is the beginning of a saga of book within the series “Alex Rider”. The first book introduces the characters and explains their background story, but J think it is not necessary to read that book if you want to read the other ones, because their story is thin and you can figure it out quite easily. But nevertheless it is an exciting action-thriller adventure for children and teenagers. The action is often bit unrealistic, but that just fits with the style the book is written in. The book often makes references to other spy/action movies or books like James Bond, but it never copies them completely. It is a good start for the series but it has some issues in the thin characters and the thin plot but J think the writer could improve that in his next book.

Supposedly intended for ages 10-14, but Stormbreaker isn't just for kids. Adult readers will probably enjoy the humour and fast-paced action just as much as teenaged readers will. When I bought Stormbreaker, I was already familiar with Anthony Horowitz' writing (from the Nick Diamond novels and others), so I had certain expectations: I expected a witty and entertaining - if a little 'out there' - story told from the POV of the teenaged hero. And I wasn't disappointed. Once I'd finished Stormbreaker, I went out and got the second novel in the series, Point Blanc.I can definitely recommend this book to anyone who liked action/adventure/spy novels and doesn't mind a little humour thrown in.
