La meilleure boussole que je n ai jamais possédé !J utilise des boussoles silva depuis 20 ans, je ne sais pas pourquoi c etait pour moi la marque de référence, depuis quelques années je trouve que la marque silva made in china ne tiens plus la route, j ai repris il y a quelques mois la expedition neo S qui fonctionne bien mais a des finitions vraiment mediocre (120 euros quand même !) et qui de plus ne possède pas le système globale (pour hémisphère nord et sud) je me suis alors penché sur cette version en G soit (global) l aiguille fonctionne sur toute la planète.Alors déjà la finition suunto ... Merveilleux ! Mais la différence de qualité est vraiment flagrante, on a un objet très bien fini avec aucun jeu, les graduations de pente sont géniales, le boitier est solide et léger... Je ne repasserais jamais chez silva et resterais chez suunto désormais.Je recommande les yeux fermés super produit !

Ist sein Geld wert. Gut verarbeitet und präzise. Könnte etwas länger nachleuchten. Aber das ist marginal.

Dieser Kompass hat eine Genauigkeit von 2,5° und sämtliche Winkel Skalen sind in 2° schritte eingeteilt. Es sind noch "cm", "in", Lineale und Kartenskalen mit 1:25k/1:50k vorhanden. Der Kompass hat eine Deklinationskorrektur Schraube, womit man direkt den Geografischen Norden finden kann. Des weiteren sind großzügig viele Elemente Fluoreszierend, so das es mit einer Taschenlampe zum leuchten gebracht werden kann. Der Kompass ist innerhalb von einer Sekunde eingenordet und damit sehr schnell. Ein Klinometer ist ebenfalls vorhanden, ist aber etwas schwergängig. Am Spiegel sind noch Skalen für Steigungen vorhanden, die man zusammen mit dem Klinometer auf der Karte verwenden kann. Die NH Version bzw. die nicht G Versionen, können nur auf der Nordhalbkugel verwendet werden.Ich bin sehr zufrieden mit dem Kompass. Wenn man weiß, wie die Kreuzpeilung funktioniert, ist es sehr einfach mithilfe einer Karte sich zurecht zu finden. Es ist ein hervorragender Backup (Redundanz) zu GPS, wenn mal der Akku leer ist oder kein Empfang möglich ist, um sich zu Orientieren. Außerdem ist es eine gute Möglichkeit Didaktisch zu lernen wie GPS Funktioniert, da GPS zwar nicht das gleiche, aber ein ähnliches verfahren verwendet zur Positionsbestimmung.Dieser Kompass MC2 von Suunto ist sehr robust, und nicht ohne Grund das Beste Orientierungsmessinstrument was man kaufen kann. Auf YouTube setzen alle Outdoor Profis auf ein Suunto MC2 mit Landkarte neben GPS als sinnvolle alternative ein.

It’s a great compass but I thought it would be the global version…MC-2G Global Compass like it said on Amazon and in the heading of this review! It’s not. It’s as shown in my photo; a MC-2USGS which I’m pretty darned sure is a northern hemisphere balanced unit…the “G” signifying global is missing from the model number embossed on the baseplate. If I’m wrong, I’d happily stand to be corrected. Since I don’t think I’ll be tramping through any South American rain forests anytime soon I’m not terribly concerned.It’s a fine piece of kit…just as good as my 20 year old Silva Ranger which still remains perfect. The only noticeable differences are the Suunto is of course newer, is a tiny bit bigger, has the sighting hole, has a luminous bezel and has the built-in magnifying glass. I’m going to carry both with the Silva stowed away as a back up. I’ve checked them both against each other and against a Garmin hand held GPS and they’re all spot on. I’m no kid so I prefer the old school baseplate/mirror devices and a map!I guess, since I paid more for what I thought was a global balanced compass, I’m a little soured on the transaction. As it stands, the compass is excellent…just not what I thought I’d ordered and paid for.

This compass is accurate, easy to use, and still functions exactly as it should after many adventures in all four Canadian seasons. My only complaint is that the clip-on string necklace sometimes comes off by accident. Kinda strange design. Maybe it's a safety feature so you don't get hung up on a tree branch or something.Other than that, I would definitely buy this compass again if I lost or destroyed it. You don't really realize how important a quality compass is until you're out in the middle of nowhere when suddenly your phone stops working. It's not a piece of gear you should cheap out on.

I teach day/night land navigation as a hobby. I use and recommend this feature rich compass to my students. The scales match USGS topo maps widely used in the U.S. If you are outside of this area, use a Suunto designed for maps in your area/hemisphere. There are many different Suunto MCs, so do your homework before you buy.Some reviews mentioned that the compass needle is not accurate. I am retired US Army Special Forces. I have used the Global version of this compass in many regions of the world with no major issues. One of the first statements I make to a class of students is “Land Navigation is not surveying”. Your compass should be accurate enough to orient your map to the world around you, then orient to local terrain features to find your general location on the map. It should assist you in keeping a general bearing as you move across terrain, day and night, in all weather. This compass will easily do all of those things. Land navigation accuracy is determined using other techniques such as using backstops, waypoints, hand railing and identifying terrain features. Prior route planning using the appropriate map is essential. If you don’t know understand these techniques, get some professional training.Regarding the included lanyard and declination adjustment tool. I do not hang any corded device around my neck that will not break if it could become entangled. This includes a compass. Loop the lanyard through a buttonhole on your shirt or coat. I replace the supplied lanyard with a much longer section of para cord and then loop it through a buttonhole on a shirt breast pocket. The compass comes out to take a bearing or orient a map, then goes back into the pocket. Anything attached to my person won’t be lost. My backup compass is the same. You do carry a backup, correct? The declination tool is taped to the cover. The knife point of a pocket knife will work if the tool is lost. Declination should be set during route planning and before one goes into the field anyway.By the way, the built-in magnifying glass is meant to read small objects on a topo map. Don’t rely on it for fire starting. It’s too weak to bet your life on. Other tools and techniques are appropriate for fire starting.

Die Qualität der Kompasse von Suunto/Recta ist einfach Spitze. Hierbei handelt es sich um die globale Version. Das bedeutet die Nadellagerung ist getrennt vom Magneten was eine Verwendung in Gebieten mit starker Inklination (meist auf der Südhalbkugel) ermöglicht. Das spiegelt sich allerdings auch im Preis etwas wieder. Dennoch würde ich sagen liegt dieser Kompass im guten Mittelfeld was den Preis betrifft.Beim MC-2G handelt es sich um einen Hybridkompass, welcher die Vorteile eines reinen Kartenkompass (Transparente Bodenplatte) und einem Peilkompass vereint. Dies schafft er meiner Meinung nach auch sehr gut.Ich habe mich für die 6400 Strich Variante entschieden, da ich bei der Bundeswehr diese ebenfalls nutze. Es gestaltet sich meiner Meinung nach einfacher mit 64 zu arbeiten (Bspw. Beim umgehen von Hindernissen) als mit 360°. Anzumerken ist allerdings das die Deklinationskorrektur in Grad eingestellt wird.Die Problematik mit den unterschiedlich hohen bzw. eingelassenen Gummifüssen kann ich nicht nachvollziehen. Da es nur drei Füße sind, ist es eigentlich total egal ob einer höher ist oder nicht. Wackeln tut dort definitiv nichts wenn man nicht eine Seite belastet.Etwas schade finde ich allerdings das sich die Kompassdose etwas schwer drehen lässt. Vielleicht ist es nur mein persönliches Empfinden, was ich aber nicht glaube. Ich besitze mit diesem Kompass jetzt den vierten Kompass überhaupt. Alle von namhaften Herstellern wie Silva, Recta oder Breithaupt und muss sagen bei allen dreht die Dose etwas leichter.Auch das oft angesprochene Axialspiel an der Dose selbst ist tatsächlich vorhanden. Allerdings hält es sich im Rahmen und somit auch in der Toleranz der Herstellerangabe.

Der Kompass hat eine durchsichtige Bodenplatte und ein Dosengitter und ist fuer moderne Verfahren auf Karten mit Kartengitter wie z.B. UTM geeignet.Wie alle skandinavischen Kompasse, die ich bisher gesehen habe, hat auch der MC-2 eine Markierung auf der Dose, welche die gesamte Nadel umschliesst. Man kann also beim Peilen die Ausrichtung der Nadel ueber ihre gesamte Laenge beurteilen, denn durch den Paralaxenfehler muss sie nicht genau in der Mitte zwischen den Markierungen stehen, sondern exzentrisch und parallel dazu. Die Markierung fuer die Nadel ist kraeftig und auch in der Daemmerung beim Peilen noch gut zu sehen.Der Kompass hat unten im Spiegel ein Sichtfenster zum noch genaueren Peilen. Wenn man ueber das obere Ende des Spiegels peilt und den Kompass dabei nicht ganz gerade haelt, schleicht sich schnell ein Messfehler ein.Die mitgelieferte Schnur ist mir zu kurz, ich habe sie ersetzt. Die Schnur sollte so lang sein, dass sie gespannt ist, wenn man sie um den Nacken legt und den Arm fast ganz ausgestreckt hat. So hat man die laengste Visierlinie beim Peilen und haelt den Kompass durch die gespannte Schnur ruhig. Dem komischen schwarzen Plastikding, dass die Schnur am Kompass befestigen soll traue ich nicht: Ab in die Rundablage damit und dann ein Kreuzknoten.Die Nadel ist rot und schwarz, d.h. man kann die beiden Enden auch gut auseinander halten, wenn man im Dunkeln fuer die Kartenarbeit eine Rotlichtlampe verwendet. Eine Nadel, die rot und weiss ist, wuerde unter Rotlicht an beiden Enden gleich aussehen.Die Schraube fuer den Deklinationsausgleich ist auf der Unterseite. Das ist schon recht unpraktisch, wenn man die Missweisung nach dem Missweisungs-Diagramm auf der Karte einstellen will, denn dafuer man muss den Kompass auf das Diagramm auflegen und die Schraube so lange verstellen, bis die entsprechenden Markierungen von Kompass und Diagramm uebereinstimmen. Mit einem Kompass, der die Schraube auf der Oberseite hat, ist das in 5s erledigt ohne ihn mehrfach umdrehen und wieder auflegen zu muessen bis es passt.Der Kompass hat keine Globalnadel, aber man muss schon sehr weit nach Sueden kommen, bevor die Nadel eines qualitativ hochwertigen Kompasses haengen bleibt. Fuer die meisten Leute sicher kein Nachteil.Ganz klare Kaufempfehlung, einer der besten Kompasse, den ich kenne. Und wie jeder andere Kompass funktioniert er auch dann noch, wenn der Duracell Hase schon laengst stehen geblieben ist.Am besten gleich zusammen mit der Bibel "Orientierung mit Karte, Kompass, GPS" von Wolfgang Linke bestellen.
