1. This is well made. (Although if you are using the foot bar on semi-hard ground it can/will bend)2. On a beach/open space with a consistent breeze, it works well. Which is what it is meant for.3. It's Not surprising; it's not good in an enclosed area with walls/trees around that disturb airflow. It needs the open space.I decided to take a chance with this purchase as the end of my garden opens onto a lake, and we do get a consistent breeze off the lake on many days and those are the days I want to use it as it is too windy/gusty for sun umbrellas. It works better than I expected. The wind occasionally swings around and blows in the opposite direction, no doubt because I live in a community and the wind swirls around now and then. This causes the sail to rotate and get tangled up with the guy line. To prevent this, I added some loose guy lines on each end of the sail cross pole, which worked out well. On low-wind days I can use the umbrellas on higher-wind days, I should be able to make this work well enough for us. Time will tell!Overal, it was a good purchase for the money.

Works better than expected. Easy to set up it, it comes in a small carry bag and the amount of shade it provides is huge. The wind picked up so I added a sand bag to the spike as an anchor and it worked even better. The shade moves with the direction of the wind so it is perfect!! I'm buying another before they run out!!

Super easy set up if you've ever put up a tent before. Same concept. One huge instruction they don't tell you is the blue top comes off, the shade put on top and then blue piece back on. I did not know this. Looked like a fool after talking all my friends into leaving their shades at home because i had this "cool flag one". Unless the wind is constant then it just falls to the ground. It kept spinning and see sawing up and down so it was popping everyone in the head and hitting other people's shades. Eventually gave up, packed it up and a friend brought a different shade. I am so disappointed.

Loved that this wasn’t the same as all the other beach shades lining our annual vacation spot. However, I know why the “other” brand is super popular now.The set up was fairly easy and I was cautiously optimistic. Loved the fact that it wasn’t tent-like or restricted the views to the sides. It was a fairly windy day, typical for the beach, and my 16 yo son was being his normal, negative self and telling me the horizontal crossbar holding the shade wasn’t stable enough to stay in place. We powered through and got it up and within less than a minute, I realized he was right….but refused to acknowledge it. He went back to the house and I stayed on the beach, wrestling with the bar to stay level by adjusting the front rope and manually turning the crossbar and shade to the direction of the wind. Seemed ok when I left to walk back and get our beach supplies for the day.I got back to our house and turned to admire my work and that crazy crossbar had fallen sideways, the fabric was wrapped around the center pole, pulled the rope out of the sand and the whole thing was a wadded up mess. Needless to say, I was upset and ready to ship the whole stupid thing back and planned a scathing review to post. My husband ended up taking it down, laying it in a heap just out of reach of the high tide line and told me to relax.Made a trip to the hardware store the next morning and purchased crab-line ropes and tent stakes, fashioned our own stabilizers for each end of the horizontal crossbar by staking them into the ground near the center support pole. This held that giant crossbar steady and level and we were in business the rest of the week with our own unique sun shade. It was easy to set up and take down by myself and I loved that everything packed back in the storage bag without a bunch of stuffing. I might install grommets into the ends of each side of the shade to make it easier to tie the ropes for next year, but definitely happy with my purchase after adding the stabilizing ropes on the end.
