This tool is incredibly practical and functional when it comes to determining whether it's time to replace my brake fluid. It features a clear, user-friendly display and a loud audible notification, making it straightforward to use. Ever since I decided to handle some of the maintenance for my Buick Rainier myself, this tester was high on my list of must-have tools to take the guesswork out of brake fluid management.Using it was simple and effective. The tester indicated that my brake fluid was still in good condition, so I didn’t need to bleed the brakes just yet. This reassurance saved me both time and money. As a quick experiment, I tested the tool with just water, and the readings were predictably off the charts, confirming its sensitivity and accuracy. While I didn’t have fresh brake fluid on hand for comparison, I know how old the existing fluid in my system is, and the results aligned with my expectations. This tester not only helped me verify the condition of my brake fluid but also encouraged me to continue learning more about vehicle maintenance. I’m planning to test it again during my next oil change, which I also intend to perform myself. For those new to DIY car maintenance, there are excellent how-to videos on YouTube.Once I finished using the tester, I made sure to properly care for it by removing the batteries, cleaning and drying the probe, and storing it back in its box for future use. I’ll be using it again in about a month, and I’m confident it will continue to perform as expected. In summary, this brake fluid tester is a valuable addition to any DIY mechanic’s toolkit. It’s easy to use, accurate, and helps make informed decisions about brake fluid maintenance. Take care out there, stay safe, and happy wrenching!

I got this as I drive a near on 21 year old car, while it performs just as well as ever I try to keep the maintenance costs down. I had changed the brake fluid about 10 years back so was curious to check what condition it was in.In the kit you get the tester, a pair of AAA batteries and a small multi-language manual. The basic usage is quite simple, turn it on, select the appropriate DOT rating (3,4,5) for your vehicle (normally printed on the fluid cap, or in the manual), pop the probe in the tank and see what it says.As a general rule any reading under 2% means your fluid is safe to use, in my case it was 1.2% so still perfectly fine even allowing for a variance in the reading accuracy. If you get a reading above about 3% you should seriously consider getting it changed at your next service. Above 4% you should look to get it changed immediately.I'll likely only use this a few times as a private car owner, if you are a small garage or workshop this is a handy tool to quickly check a customers vehicle.
