Great quality, fit my 289 perfectly and simplified the wiring for my hotrod. Made in the USA and only 1 wire! Love it.

I'm currently getting a '67 Ford Econoline Heavy Duty Cargo Van back on the road. I'm able to drive it in and out of the driveway easily enough except I'm having to keep using the battery charger/starter to get her fired up - even with a new battery.I noticed that the Alt light on the dash doesn't ever light up to indicate anything. I assumed either the alternator is bad, the voltage regulator is bad or both. I've heard mainly good things about the single-wire, high output alternators from Tuff Stuff from other monkey wrenchers so I made a vice-exec (don't tell my CEO a.k.a. the wifey ;) ) decision to order Tuff Stuff's 7068 alternator.It was easy enough to clock the the back of the case to relocate the battery positive post - just 4 little ol' bolts, twist and lock. She dropped in place where the original alternator went - somewhat easy, just had to line-up that one dang lower bolt from an awkward position (engine's in the cabin under the "doghouse"). The wiring was super simple, too - they had a little paper tag on the grounding tab telling some of us numbskulls to hook up the grounding cable "here" to the engine (they even tell you the wire gauge size, to boot if you have to make a new one). I happened to have more than enough 4 gauge, red welding cable (very flexible/malleable) and some copper battery cable ends I crimped on and "voila!" all mounted and wired up. Still had to use the battery starter on ol' girl but after she started up, turned on the headlights (bright...at the moment) and the moment of truth...killed the battery charger and those headlights stayed bright - in fact they got brighter after about half-a-minute. Couldn't be happier!

I am very happy about the alternator, looks great, I will in stall it in the summer months, the only problem with it was the shipping, was when I received it the box had a hole in from bouncing around in the box, not to good for the alternator, I hope its not broken when I install it , please pack it more before shipping, thanks.
