This reciprocating saw blade is longer at more than 40cm than I had envisioned. This is really good though as it means you can cut through a think wedge of polystyrene with no problems (no shredded bits all over the place). It cuts thick cardboard very cleanly too.The blade, although longer than most reciprocating saw blades, is very sturdy and the tip is so designed that you can do plunge cuts if needed. It is said to work well on rubber too but I would be wary of trying it on old tyres as they are mostly steel belted these days and would probably not be too good for this blade.The only (small) improvement I could suggest would be to provide a sheath for the blade when it’s not in use. Otherwise it’s a highly recommended piece of kit.

I picked up the 16-inch/400mm High Carbon Steel Reciprocating Saw Blade to break down polystyrene and cardboard for easier disposal in council waste bins. I built a tiny house and used styrofoam panels as insulation. This blade worked GREAT. I also used it on foam rubber cushions. A great tool to have with your reciprocating saw.

Needed to trim and outdoor rubber mat, about an inch thick. This made the task go smoothly, without chewing up the edge like many other blades would do if not specifically made for rubber. Long enough to handle thicker mats. Durable, easily cut, and a good value. Nice addition to my saw blade toolbox.

The first thing I noticed is the length of the blade. When I ordered the blade, I thought it was slightly longer than a typical reciprocating blade. I was wrong. This blade is very long, measuring 16 inches. I was pleasantly surprised as this gives me the ability to cut thicker materials.I tried cutting various materials and I found this blade is very good at cutting thicker material that a box cutter can not. I found that a typical package made of cardboard is easier to cut with a box cutter. For the boxes that appliances come in, though, the cardboard is thicker and is hard to cut with a box cutter, but this blade cuts it like a hot knife through butter. Same with thick Styrofoam blocks. It's difficult to cut thick Styrofoam with a box cutter, but this blade made it easy.I would not use this blade for cutting carpet. A box cutter is a better choice. Also, this blade leaves carpet crumbs during cutting.I found this blade also does a good job at cutting plastic bottles. The round shape and thicker plastic of bottles makes them difficult to cut with box cutters. This blade did a good job slicing though plastic bottles.You can grip the blade with your hand if you don't want to attach it to your reciprocating tool. I had a piece of cardboard to cut in half and instead of attaching the blade to my reciprocating tool, I was able to grasp the blade through the large opening. The opening lets me firmly hold the blade and I was able to cut my cardboard in half without any trouble.Overall, a good blade to have around.
