This is an extremely useful IC vacuum pickup tool. It includes three different sizes of rubber tips for picking up different sizes of chips. The set takes regular blunt tip needles and includes several different sizes of them. The vacuum tool is mostly metal and definitely feels like it could take some hits.I was really impressed with the suction strength of this device, especially, in comparison to its size. It was able to pick up my phone easily during testing. This device can be used for both placing and removing chips. This tool charges with USB C. It has a good enough battery life that I don't have to worry about charging it very often. This device will not charge via power delivery. You will need a classic style charger to charge it.I mostly use this tool for desoldering large BGA chips from motherboards. It works extremely well for this. I was able to remove some huge PCH chips easily with out worrying about knocking any other components out of place. I was a little concerned about the rubber tips melting from the heat, but they seem to have held up no problem to removing many chips.Overall, this is a great little machine. It gives you the power of an industrial machine in a small package.

Working in tech building and repair, I was very excited to see a new option beyond my tweezers - I'd been getting frustrated with my own dexterity, and I was tired of the blisters I would form from holding my tweezers. This little tool is pretty convenient. It's place is really on smooth, flat surfaces, but I've been able to pick up components (sometimes for giggles) that I wasn't expecting. Not going to lie... I also ordered this with the intent to try it out with crafting. I'm a big beader and scrapbooker, and I love working with small plastic or glass components; it's been a bit of a learning for me to see which it works with, but it's been SO great for precise placing.Highly recommend this little tool!

I expected that it could also pickup the small 1206 smd's. But it did not pickup capacitor smd's. Maybe because they do not have totally flat surfaces? This limits my usage of this quite expensive tool.

I tested the Picograb Rechargeable ESD Vacuum Pickup Pen on a variety of SMD components (sizes 0201, 0402, 0603, 0805, etc.). If one uses the bare metal tip, it has to seal on the chip’s surface to establish a good enough vacuum to lift up the chip. You will hear the noise of the Picograb motor change when you have a good vacuum. I found when I let go of the button, the SMD chip will still stick to the Picograb’s nozzle most of the time so I had to bump it slightly to break the seal. The suction cups are more forgiving in terms of how easily it is to pick an item up but they only work on the larger nozzles for bigger SMD parts. The very small SMD chips require direct nozzle contact. I found the bent nozzles were the best setup for me. There is no way to clean out the Picograb so make sure you are not sucking up foreign material or solder. When I first unboxed the product, I connected it to an existing USB C charger and the charging light on the Picograb did not light up. Once I switched to a USB A charger with a USB A to USB C cable, it charged as expected and the LED worked as described in the documentation. This is a great tool if you are trying to remove small SMD parts from a strip and place them onto a PCB to be soldered. Before this I would put flux on tweezers to try to grab SMD parts but it was hit and miss and it was difficult to get the part off the tweezers and placed precisely on the PCB. With the Picograb this process is much easier. The suction power of the product is not significant but it was enough to grab all the SMD components I tried. Please note: this will not work with curved or irregular surfaces, it is specifically designed for SMD components with flat surfaces. Overall, I think this is a good product if you are placing a lot of parts onto PCBs. Outside of that it may be hard to justify the cost.
