This gardening trowel is nothing short of amazing, and I speak from experience, having used a multitude of trowels over the years. It stands head and shoulders above the generic ones found in big box stores. The one-piece construction is a game-changer, making it a strong contender for indestructibility. Crafted from stainless steel, it not only boasts impressive durability but also remarkable rust resistance. I've left it outside for over two years, and it hasn't shown a hint of corrosion. It's become my trusty sidekick in the garden, tackling a wide range of tasks with ease and reliability. In the world of gardening tools, this trowel is a true standout, and I couldn't be more satisfied with its performance and resilience.

I have a countless number of cheaply made cheap trowels. I use them for years without any problem. The very cheap ones broke all the times. I just need to be aware of their limit.I recently broke a cheap one by my fault. I asked too much of it and ripped it apart. I have a good well-made one that I want to buy but they don't sell that one anymore. So, I bought this 11-inch Wilcox 251S.The reason to buy the 251S is that it looks as long in length as the one I am using and Amazon is having a sale for couple bucks less. The 251S is a little bit thicker than the one I am using. Maybe 1/3 to 1/2 thicker It is not as wide but it is good enough. The 251S front edge is very sharp. I can cut through whatever in the ground. The tip is very sharp and pointy. So be careful handling it.The 251S has some markings on the spade. You can use it to measure whatever. I find it not at useful because the markings are hard to read. The 251S is straight and I can hold it very well. The grip is good. The hole maybe a problem. I get a lot of dirt and water in there. I think I will stuff some newspaper into the hole. The problem with the 251S is that it is straight. I can poke and stab no problem. I am having problem scoping and digging with the 251S because it is straight. I always hit the back of my hand to the dirt while I am digging. I don't have any problem with my regular trowel because the handle is at an angle. The packaging is very bad. There is no packaging to protect the sharp blade. Amazon just put it inside the shipping box as-is. It is slicing and dicing whatever you are buying together inside the Amazon shipping box.I have some pictures. The one on top is the very cheap one. It uses spot weld to hold the spade and handle together. I ripped the weld apart. The middle one is the one I use the most. I use it very rough. I left it outside in the dirt and under the sun all the time. The spade and the handle are all bent. I have to hammer them back straight and use a hose clamp to keep the handle intact. It uses rivets to hold the spade and handle together. This one is cheap and tough. The last one is the 251S. It is one piece. Nothing to break.I just got it for couple days. I don't know how long it will take to rust it out or melt the plastic handle. I will give this 4 stars because the ergonomic is not that good. It is too straight.

What a great trowel!! I hate it when they bend, and although I never thought I’d spend $30 on a trowel, after wasting so much money on useless ones, I figured it was better to invest in a good one. Am I ever glad I did! Our soil is very clay-based, and can get quite hard. No problem for this trowel. Would recommend to even a hobby gardener (like me) if you want a good tool to last.

I would give it five stars, but (this is a big but) I am trying to decide whether to return this trowel. I don't know how to rate it!! I love the size, weight, sharpness and balance of it, and though I haven't yet used it, it's definitely a fantastic trowel. The problem is the pointed bumps on the underside of the handle grip. They are large and sharp and hard and they hit my hand in all the wrong places making it quite painful for me to hold. I've been trying to figure out if there's a way I could saw the bumps off to make a smooth underside that wouldn't hurt my hand (impossible) or remove the red plastic entirely (sort of defeats the purpose) and replace it with some kind of smooth tape wrapping. In every other way besides those bumps on the handle, I think this is nicer than any other trowel I've ever seen. But the bumps are the deal breaker. They hurt. I really, really don't want to return what is otherwise a great trowel, but that may be what I have to do. Five stars if the handle is comfortable for you (maybe someone with large, tough hands?) I'm sad.
