These are brilliant for examining if a part is getting power from the car battery without having to remove it or mess with the little plastic tabbed clips that want to break when you look at them.The ad is not very descriptive, so let me explain. These work with two little mechanisms. The black knurled area is spring loaded and holds the wire in place. Then you twist the gray area and the metal needle will extend slowly into the wire for a reading. So it's very secure and you can proceed carefully as you like.I am super satisfied with these and I would recommend them to anyone who is working on something in place or if you are just super lazy and don't want to disassemble something. They will work as well as your multimeter--be aware of the voltage on your multimeter before use.

As a mobile mechanic and electrician trying to reach for wires with your progress can be a pain sometimes or nearly impossible this make it a lot easier to grab onto a wire and probe without having to cut the wire. They're very easy to use and long enough that you can get in very tight spaces to check wires that are way up under your dash. I can think of dozens of jobs if not hundreds that I wish I had these on in the past and I am so grateful to have them now
