The four grades of grit in this set of diamond sanding pads encompass a range from coarse (60) to moderately fine (400). The backing pads are solid foam which are comfortable to hold and provide a good grip. Although the foam backing is flexible the diamond grit is plated onto a flat metal base and does not conform to the surface it is abrading, it is a solid flat sanding surface. It is easy to distinguish the coarseness of the grit by simply observing the surface, but the numbers printed on the side are helpful when comparing to aluminium oxide and silicon carbide papers, which you might be more familiar with. The colour coding will also get you to the right one after the numbers have worn off and when the light is fading.I tested the pads by using them to round off the corners of a mirror tile. The tile, which I use to “see” where the plugs go behind monitors and computers, has been in my toolbox for years and on one occasion a sharp corner damaged a monitor stand. Since that happened the edges have been bound in masking tape, but on getting these pads for review decided to remove the corners once and for all.I worked from the coarsest grit to the finest, but I suspect I should have started half way through the pack, as the rougher grits bounced about a little too much on the sharp corners.I am satisfied with the result and the ease with which I achieved it. These pads will be a useful addition to my sanding box and will show their true worth when hand sanding ceramics, tiles etc.In the absence of instructions, either with the product or in the listing, I used the sanding blocks dry for fear of damaging them, but wet application would be preferable as it would help to prevent clogging and remove the sanding “dust” enabling you to see the progress of your work more clearly. If the sanding blocks do not disintegrate in water using them wet would be advisable to prolong their life. The diamond grits do not look as carefully graded as you will find on good quality silicon carbide wet-and-dry papers and I don’t expect the finish they produce will be as uniform. Like all tools their strengths and weaknesses will reveal themselves as they are put to use. First impressions are good.

Pros- feel pretty well made- the sanding surfaces are decent- obvious that the grits actually change- good strong, sturdy foamCons- just a bit of a general product- I'm not convinced of the durability of the diamond plates- there is a couple of prominent bits sticking out on the diamond plates which means you get an uneven grindAs a general product if you don't need accuracy. Yeah they're decent for the price. The sponge/foam is proper sturdy feeling so even if you wear them out, take off the diamond plate and you've got some solid sanding pads to use with sanding paper. As I say though, there's a couple of plates with random bits sticking out more than not and this causes them to basically cause problems with the finish if you're using these for anything serious. Probably need a good wear down to make them usable. Not bad if you don't need to see the finish though or just doing some roughing up for gluing/painting.
