Blitz ist für kleine Kameras wunderschön winzig! Da er sich aber nicht nach oben schwenken lässt, wirft er bei Objektiven mit Längen über 5cm schnell mal einen großen Schatten. Der Blitz kann gar nichts, außer immer beim Auslösen zu Blitzen, in 2 Helligkeitsstufen. Wer nicht Blitzen will schaltet ihn aus. Der Blitz kommuniziert nicht mit der Kamera. Iso oder Belichtungszeit muss man beim Blitzen selber anpassen, ansonsten wird stark überbelichtet. Preis/Leistung ok!

The Zeniko brand is not one I have encountered often, but I have had great results with a microphone product they offer that proved to be both a great value and a good performer. So, I approached the ZF08 Mini Camera Flash with the hope that I’d be pleasantly surprised once again. Not only am I impressed, but I’m also discovering that I’m late to the party: it appears that Zeniko has been impressing countless photographers while I’ve apparently been snoozing. This particular product is an example of precision manufacturing, with all four sides formed from rugged extruded aluminum.The tiny Zeniko ZF08 mini flash is the latest I’ve seen of a genre of hotshoe aftermarket flashes that is growing in number, helping to meet the demands of a variety of consumers. This market might be best recognized as the hip younger photographers, drawn to the vintage look and the nostalgic, flat on-camera lighting look. But there are also many others who don’t have a built-in camera flash and don’t always want to be encumbered with a speedlight on or off camera.I find myself in that latter club and am happy to have some choices, mostly when I want a little front fill but don’t want to carry more than a pocketful of mirrorless camera and one lens. And this thing is so tiny that there is no reason to go anywhere without it tagging along.I love the classy little case that comes with it, which ensures that it can ride safely in my pocket, and that neither the flash nor my camera will be damaged with the flash in its tiny case in my every-day-carry sling bag. When slid into my X-T30’s hotshoe, the tiny form factor adds only an inch to the height of the camera, and the inconspicuous black body of the flash occupies a mere 1½-inch of real estate front to back and from one side to the other. The foot of the flash simply slides into your camera’s hot shoe, and is held in place by friction.An added benefit, some people are less likely to object to being photographed with this simple system than one that sports a big speedlight. Of course, the output of the ZF08 is much lower than a typical large speedlight, but it is surprisingly capable, especially for fill flash applications. While the tasks the ZF08 can satisfactorily perform are, in my way of thinking, somewhat limited, it does them well enough to more than justify its very affordable price tag.Another included accessory is just as important, perhaps, as the case. On many, perhaps most, cameras with which this mini flash is likely to be used, the flash will sit just above the camera’s lens. If the lens diameter is somewhat large, and/or if the lens is long, the top edge of the lens body can get in the way of the flash, resulting in a shadow at the bottom of the picture. This is a problem that users have discovered with similar mini flash systems. But the Zeniko folks saw this and provided a cool little extension that slides into the camera’s hot shoe and provides a hot shoe on top to elevate the mini flash and eliminate the problem. Very cool! Not only that, but this little accessory also sports a standard flash sync jack on the side. That little jack further expands the ZF08’s flexibility.Expanding the mini flash’s usability further, I’ve enjoyed using it to optically fire an off-camera speedlight, and I’ve also had good results using an old, inexpensive wireless trigger system to fire the ZF08 off camera!The ZF08 works with digital or film cameras that offer a center hotshoe contact for firing with shutter activation. That includes most digital and film cameras. Check the product listing on Amazon for brands/models that are not compatible.The flash itself is a poster child for simplicity, yet quite complete. The flash is powered by a lithium battery, charged from your USB power supply, so there is no need to round up batteries or be concerned about corrosion. A short USB-A to USB-C cable is supplied. The charge should last for around 440 full-power flashes.Note that the ZF08 is manual only, so there is no TTL or other “auto” function. That said, I’ve found the operation to be simple yet feature-rich. One button on the back of the flash serves as the On/Off button. Once powered on, the same button can be used to fire a test flash by simply pressing the button more briefly. Briefly pressing the only other button steps the power output up from the lowest power to the highest in five increments. Repeatedly pressing the button returns the power level to the lowest, allowing the cycle to be repeated. The selected output power is displayed by a simple row of five tiny green LEDs on top of the flash housing. When the flash is first turned on, those LEDs will briefly illuminate in red rather than green, indicating that the power is on and the flash is almost ready to fire. After a couple of seconds or less the LEDs change from red to green indicating that the flash is ready. When you turn on the flash, the number of LEDs illuminated will show the power level that was set when the flash was last used.But there’s more: hold the right button (the one that changes the power output) in a little longer to turn the row of LEDs into a battery status meter. They will blink green three times, with the number of LEDs illuminated indicating the battery status. For added coolness, the On/Off button glows when the power is on: green when the flash is ready to fire and, like the five power level LEDs, red when the flash is briefly recycling.The only other feature on the flash housing is the USB-C charging receptacle. When plugged into a charging power source, the LEDs on top become a charge-status meter. As the battery charge is underway the number of red LEDs illuminated will indicate the percentage of charge achieved, with the last illuminated LED flashing to indicate charging is underway. When the last LED quits flashing and all five red LEDs are illuminated the battery is fully charged.The Zeniko ZF08 mini camera flash is the flash that always tags along on my outings, when my speedlights and strobes are just too much to carry. You might say it’s “old school,” but I’m loving the convenience of having it with me and, hey… I’m even enjoying the process and the end results.I'm supplying a couple of pairs of photos. One shows the flash being used for fill light on a backlit subject. The other pair demonstrates the use of the ZF08 to supply nearly all the light on the subject, with only a little light from a table lamp in the first frame and the whole subject illuminated by the flash in the second.

I got this flash to provide a little extra light for my trusty Cannon Powershot G10 but have found myself using it more and more with my other cameras.Let’s go over what this flash is good for. Being a full manual flash provides compatibility with almost every camera with a standard hotshot. Also using the included adapter it will work with a x-sync port (although you will need a cable as one is not included) and was an unexpected bonus.It is also very good for giving that retro look to your photos being that fires forward only. You cannot rotate or bounce the flash.It is very powerful given its size and has a very long lasting battery.Included is a nice carry case (not a cloth pouch but a real case) that protects the flash and allows for accessories to be carried as well.The only con I can say is that as I mentioned before it is a fully manual flash. So it will take some practice if you have never used a manual flash before.So I would recommend this to anyone who wants a surprisingly powerful flash that easily fits into a jeans pocket.
