Mein alter PC mit Windows XP war defekt. Ich konnte aber die Festplatte ausbauen und mit Hilfe dieses Gerätes auf meinem neuen PC auslesen. So konnte ich „eigene Dateien“ von der alten Festplatte auf meinen neuen PC (mit Windows 7) übertragen. Diesen PC habe ich gebraucht gekauft. Ob Windows 11 von dem Festplattenlesegerät unterstützt wird, weiß ich nicht.

Had twee oude 40 pins 3,5 IDE-schijven en een 2,5 SATA-schijf die ik alle drie probleemloos en gemakkelijk aan kon sluiten op mijn laptop met windows 11. Windows herkende de schijven alle 3 direct en heb zo nog allemaal oude foto's van mijn schijven kunnen halen. Ben zeer tevreden en zou deze aan iedereen aanraden. Vooral omdat ik hiervoor een goedkopere IDE/SATA-adapter heb gekocht (die onder verschillende merknamen veel lijkt te worden verkocht), die in ieder geval niet werkte met windows 11: wat ik ook deed, de schijven werden alle drie niet herkend.

Mit dem Adapter konnte ich meine alte grosse Festplatte aus meinem ausgedienten Pc einwandfrei auslesen.Nur braucht man ein extra USB-C-Buchse-auf USB-A-Stecker ,um den Adapter an einen Pc anschliessen zu können.Sonst alles ok.Würde den Adapter wieder kaufen.

Am Gerät selber ist ein exotischer USB 3.0 Micro B Stecker verbaut. Warum man das in Zeiten von USB-C noch so macht, ist mir unverständlich, zum das Anschlusskabel selbst ein USB-C Stecker ist. Bei Verlust des mitgelieferten Kabels ist ein einfaches USB C auf USB C Kabel ist daher nicht verwendbar.Des Weiteren, wollte ich es an meinem PC an einem USB A mittels Adapter von USB C auf A anschließen. Das hat nicht geklappt, so dass ich einen freien USB C Port am Laptop nutzen musste.Ich hatte es mir geholt, um alte Festplatten vor dem verschrotten ggf. zu sichern. Das funktioniert sehr gut. Die Auto-Backup Funktion habe ich bisher nicht geprüft.

I bought this to access the files on an old IDE drive: something I had been meaning to do for years.I was slightly concerned at the lack of instructions (just a booklet on how to set up the backup software, which I didn't need). I just attached the IDE drive to the relevant 20-pin connector, together with the power lead provided, connected the USB-C lead to my PC, the 12V power adapter to the mains, and hit the 'on' switch. Hey presto, my PC registered a new drive, and it appear in the file explorer, with all the files accessible. I wondered if I would have to fiddle around with the master/slave jumper on the drive, but it worked (with jumper set to 'CS' on the drive).First thing I did was run the virus check on the drive, then I proceeded to copy the files I needed.All-in-all a pretty painless process.If I had any criticisms it would be around the cabling. The USB-C cable is very short and so you need to locate the adapter very close to the PC, which can be tricky since you also have to support the weight of the attached hard drive. For the sake of a few pennies, why not make the cable longer? Also the connector for the power for the drive is quite flimsy: I'll likely plug the lead in once and just leave it.All-in-all, I'm pretty happy with the device on its first use.
