This item is a serious piece of audiophile kit, only for someone really in to car audio. It has remarkably improved the quality of sound by keeping the audio signal in the digital domain from head unit to preamplifier/ amplifiers. It is paired with the audison bit one as preamplifier. It requires expert installation along with bit one, this isn't a piece of DIY kit. My car had to be recoded by a specialist to switch on the audio signal to be output onto the optical digital ring, thus switching off speaker level outputs. The result is a huge improvement in SQ allowing full integration with sat nav and Bluetooth. The only annoyance is setting of differential volume settings between these sources which is hard to match and requires a bit of getting used to. Shame there doesn't appear to be any software to adjust the volume of these sources to match. Nevertheless this item is a must if you are keen to keep full integration with your aftermarket gear, producing as clean a source signal as you an get. Only alternative (probably with better SQ result) is bit play Hd but this wouldn't allow integration of signals
