Works well enough, but when I shoot hand-held, I tend to cradle the lower left corner of the camera body (when viewed from the rear) in the palm of my left hand. When this l-bracket is attached, there are several "sharp-ish" corners that dig into my left palm. A well-designed L-bracket should have more generous radii in this area (take a look at a well-known premium band that starts with an "R") to make the lower-left camera/bracket corner more comfortable to cradle. I would have gone with that brand for my S5, except they don't have any Panasonic offerings at this point. I did buy from that brand for my S1R - found a used one from back when they made a bracket for the S1 bodies - and the l-bracket pretty much disappears when I am hand-holding the camera. So I just leave it on all the time. With the Nitze I fear that I will want to take it off for hand-held use. We shall see.Oh and, this l-bracket does work with the original S5, but there is some interference with the chrome strap lug used on that body (S5II does not use such a lug), requiring the bracket to be scooted out a little to the left. Note that I realize this bracket is advertised for the S5II only, so I am not demoting the rating because of this - just thought that folks should know.

The S5ii presents several challenges for an L-bracket (the left strap eyelet protrudes from the body and gets in the way, and the flippy screen needs space to extend and rotate) but Nitze has done a good job designing around these limitations. The bracket itself is sturdy and lightweight, and I love the magnetically attached screwdriver for tightening the screw. As others have indicated, because of the gap in the vertical part of the frame that accommodates the flippy screen, you’ll want to use this with a tripod head that has a full size Arca Swiss bracket so that you can get a secure mount (both ends of the gap connected to the plate).Highly recommended!

This fits my Lumix S5ii. It's a convenient L-bracket that with an Arca quick release. It works great when the camera is in a horizontal position. However, the bracket has a gap on the vertical side hence it wouldn't fit on my tripod in the middle. I had to move it to the side. It may not be stable with a large lens. On the other hand, if you have a tripod with a wider tripod head, it may work. Just something to consider. The side bracket does have a 1/4" mount so you can attach an accessory. It just won't work well in a vertical position with my tripod.

The bodies of G9ii and S5ii are almost identical, but there are some differences. On the front, S5ii has no button on the right side, however, the lens release button of G9ii is moved to the right side. And it causes a fitting issue for G9ii. It seems that this cage does not work for G9ii.However, or fortunately, this L bracket is expandable. Its camera mounting hole is a 3cm-long slot. Instead of using the hole on the right end of the slot, you can move the camera to the left about 10mm. Now, the cage fits G9ii perfectly. It looks good, and feels good too, as the camera body is lengthened, thus the left-hand grip improves. So, this Nitze S5ii L bracket is compatible with G9ii, through the 3cm-long camera mounting slot. At about the half price of a full cage, this lightweight "half cage" serves my needs well.

The bracket would be great on the S5ii, but the G9ii has the lens release button on the right instead of left side of the mount so the bracket can’t fit correctly. The item description at the time of purchase said it was compatible with the G9ii. I can technically make it work but it doesn’t fit flush to the body like it should, you can see it’s about a half inch difference. I will have to return the item but if you’re an S5ii owner this seems like a good bracket. Be aware that the screw to mount it to your camera isn’t hex, it’s flathead screw driver but they include a little magnetic tool. But I’d prefer hex/allen key like most brackets.
